Private Instruction in Vocal Technique for Singers

Progressive Vocal Techniques

  •

My studio

I have been teaching vocal technique to singers in the same West Hollywood studio location since 1997.

My students range from absolute beginners to chart toping regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized performing and recording artist, stage and screen as well as other voice teachers and record producers.

Genres that span Opera, Rock, Heavy Metal, R&B, Pop, Jazz, Soul, Blues, Country, Gospel, and Musical Theater etc.

I do not just say it, but I have been trained to teach all types of voices and styles, including healthy powerhouse belting. (Check out my education and resume/CV links)

I do not have a "one size fits all" approach to the vocal techniques that I teach. I did the research; I know that is not true.

I am also one of a few teachers trained to teach healthy belting techniques.

Other:

  • Large professional voice studio (not in my home)
  • Baby grand piano
  • Lesson recording equipment
  • PA System
  • Stereo/karaoke
  • Computer assisted voice training (Spectrograph and Spectrogram Analysis)
  • Electroglottograph
  • Music library (sheet, theory/history etc.)
  • Extensive Vocal Pedagogy Text Book and Research Collection

LESSONS

You only have one vocal instrument; you should not allow just anyone to train it.

Along with singing technique, I teach you how the different parts of the voice work individually and in conjunction with the other parts. Much like a personal trainer knows how to work your whole body by working individual muscles.

I am professionally trained to teach healthy belting!

I feel that in time, you will not only develop a stronger, more flexible voice, with smooth bridges, with a wider dynamic, pitch and texture range,  you will also become a smarter singer as well. You will develop an understanding of the three anatomical/physiological systems of your body that make up your vocal instrument:

I.   Power

  • Posture
  • Breathing for Singing

II.   Source

  • Larynx
  • Phonation

III. Filter

  • Resonation
  • Articulation

I also use the spectrograph computer program to explain sound science (i.e. overtones and voice "ring" or projection, placement etc.).

Unlike other voice students and many so-called "voice teachers," my students are taught vocal technique based on the latest high quality vocal/singing science, not assumptions and hype. Welcome to the 21st century.
